The American Cream Draft horse is classified as a medium-heavy draft type. The average weight of mares being 1600 to 1800 pounds at maturity. Stallions will weigh from 1800 pounds to a ton. They will stand 15 to 16.3 hands. This size is most desirable for those harnessing, hitching, and driving these easily trained, good dispositioned, willing to work, Cream of Draft Horses.

There are 3 color classifications within the American Cream Draft breed. They are light (almost white), medium (light yellow/ tan/palomino), and dark (golden/dark palomino).

Foals are born with white/light blue eyes which will turn to amber by the time the horse is a year old.

This breed is not very well known. In fact it is on the endangered species list by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.

As of September 30, 2006 there were only 369 full registrations and 57 tracking registrations of America Cream Drafts. There are 93 members and 27 associate members.
